Some neat pictures huh? We think so. The family is together on a vacation and we had stopped to see Mount Rushmore and took these pictures with the presidents in the background. We think this was probably mid-summer of 1971. No date on the slide. It could have been a year either way but 1971 sounds right. If right then Don is 15, Mike 14, Jeff 11, Tim 7 and Jennifer 3. Tend to think we were pulling the pop-up camper we had borrowed for this trip. Dad has a pretty good beard so think this was on the way home from Ohio to California to visit Grandma and Aunt Connie rather than on the way to Ohio. We had some pictures taken with an Indian that was there just for that purpose and it was really neat, but we will talk about that another time. Everyone looks alert and not overly tired. Maybe we had been out of the car for a bit before the pictures were taken.
Looking back we had some pretty fun trips. We were more in to traveling and camping then than later on. Guess it was youth but on the other hand we had a great family and enjoyed having fun. Think we were driving the tan Chrysler station wagon then so we had room to lay down in the back rather than sitting up all the time. As always we wish we could go back and enjoy those times again but once past always past. That is why one has to enjoy the moment and sock it away in the memory bank. We sure do love you all...
